Ohio hollywood casino11/28/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() No exemption for off duty, non special duty LEO. I'd feel better about an off-duty or an on-duty LEO carrying a firearm while I'm stripped of mine, so at least one other good guy has a gun. ![]() I don't agree with it being across the board ban, because we all know that the criminals don't follow the laws. Some inquiry on my part has determined that you can indeed get a statie to escort you to your vehicle if you happened to hit it big in the casino and insisted on taking the winnings in cash. Indiana at least always has state police on the property, as a trade off to being a statutory 'no carry zone'. My overall point being that if casinos don't want armed patrons it should apply across the board, or else they should at least consider allowing those legal to possess a gun to have it in their place of business. The other (much worse) one was all over the news when it happened in Detroit: Drunk despondant LEO on a long losing streak does himself in with an off duty gun right at the blackjack tables. He was forcibly ejected but amazingly the Indiana State Police didn't arrest him, the casino took no further action. One was an Ohio cop visiting an Indiana casino and being intoxicated and armed while making threats because he'd been losing money all night. Is there a law enforcement exemption of some kind in those regs, Bob? (Doesn't really matter to me but I know of a couple situations from other states where that kind of exception wasn't helpful.)
